The map-plus-three-listings module Google shows for local-intent queries — usually the most clicked-on result for service businesses.

Also called the 3-pack or map pack, the Local Pack appears for queries with local intent (e.g. 'web designer near me' or 'plumber gaithersburg'). It shows three Google Business Profile listings ranked by relevance, distance, and prominence. Click-through rates on Local Pack results dwarf organic results below it. Ranking factors include GBP completeness, review quantity and quality, NAP consistency across the web, citations, and category match.
For a DMV-based agency, ranking in the Local Pack for 'web design Gaithersburg' or 'web developer Bethesda' is worth more than any organic position. The Local Pack work is largely Google Business Profile work.
